Invisible Orthodontics

“Invisible Orthodontics” is relatively new to orthodontics. More and more techniques are being developed and the treatment possibilities are constantly growing Sierra Orthodontics provides the widest range of invisible techniques in the Sierra Foothills today.“Invisible” techniques can be split into two groups: “Aligners” and brackets, (or braces).

Invisalign is the most well know of the “aligner” type of Invisible Orthodontics.A closer look at the procedure reveals some of its advantages. For example, in ordinary orthodontics, a patient needs to wear brackets for up to two years. With Invisalign, the “aligners”, are changed every two weeks. This has the added benefit of allowing the patient to keep the teeth thoroughly clean. Although aligners cannot be used for all patients, the aligners have the same power as the brackets. The aligners are custom-made so that the teeth move towards the desired place and position.

You may have anywhere from 3-30 aligners depending on the amount of tooth movement necessary. Initially you are fitted with your first set of trays then you are required to change your trays every two weeks. Generally you will be take home with a few set of tray and then The doctors will see you every 6 weeks to check tooth movement and provide you with new trays. Your trays are worn 22 hours a day and only removed when you are eating and brushing your teeth.

The other type of “Invisible Orthodontics involves braces but they are either on the “lingual” or inside surface of the teeth, or they are similar to traditional braces but are clear. Now you have a choice as to whether or not people will actually see the braces that you are wearing!
