Dr. Charles McKelvey

Dr. McKelvey moved to Twain Harte in 1986 after graduating from Loma Linda University School of Dentistry. Prior to dentistry, he was a high school biology and chemistry teacher in Southern California. He shares time between Sierra Orthodontics in Sonora and Twain Harte Family Dental Care . He opened Sierra Orthodontics in 2000 with Dr. Emery to take care of the community's orthodontic needs. Dr. McKelvey enjoys dentistry and orthodontics but has had the opportunity to share his skills throughout the world, most recently in Tonga, Vanuatu, Mexico, China, India, Cambodia, and Thailand. Dr. McKelvey has also had the privilege of lecturing on dental materials, dental techniques and orthodontics in Shenyang, China and was a clinical instructor and mentor for Cambodian dental students.

Dr. Richard Emery

Dr. Richard Emery graduated from Loma Linda University in 1977. Dr. Emery has been practicing for over 29 years. He has been practicing General Dentistry in his office on Delnero Dr. in Sonora for 18 years. Dr. Emery is an Associate Professor at Loma Linda University School of Dentistry, teaching in the clinic once a month. He is also the Forensic Dentist for Tuolumne and Calaveras Counties. He also has over 18 years experience in Orthodontics. Dr. Emery and Dr. McKelvey started Sierra Orthodontics in 2000, to provide their patients with state of the art Orthodontic treatment. Since he began practicing dentistry, Dr. Emery kept up to date on many continuing educational classes, ensuring that his patients receive the most comprehensive and advanced dental care.

Dr. Abhijit Gune

Dr. Abhijit Gune received his BDS (Bachelors in Dental Surgery) from the University Of Mumbai, India in 1997. After earning top honors in Anatomy, Oral Surgery and Orthodontics he decided to pursue his Masters in Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics in India. Dr. Gune received his MDS (Masters in Dental Surgery) in 2001 and his DNB (Diplomate of National Board of Orthodontics) in 2003. He moved to the United States and received his DDS and California Dental License in 2004. He currently serves as the Dental Director for the Tuolumne Me Wuk Dental Clinic in Sonora and truly enjoys his involvement in community dental health projects. Dr. Gune is currently on staff as Adjunct Assistant Professor in the Department of Orthodontics at the Arthur Dugoni School of Dentistry at Pacific University in San Francisco. He has had the privilege of interacting with some nationally recognized Orthodontists in the country at the dental school and looks forward to his involvement with students and faculty at the dental school.

Drs. McKelvey, Emery and Gune are active members of the American Dental Association, the California Dental Association, and the San Joaquin Dental Society. Through continuing education above and beyond their license requirements, they are constantly working toward their goal of providing the best orthodontics for patients of all ages in a caring and gentle environment.
